The Sørlandet is one of the oldest tall ships still in service in the world. Built in 1927 in Kristiansand, Norway, she was designed as a training ship for the Norwegian merchant navy. Her name comes from the southern region of Norway, Sørlandet, where she originated.

During the Second World War, the ship was requisitioned by the Germans and damaged, but was restored and put back into service in the post-war period. Since then, she has sailed around the globe, training generations of sailors and taking part in numerous tall ship gatherings.

Today, the Sørlandet welcomes young people from various countries on board for educational and cultural purposes. She is recognised for her elegance, authenticity and historical importance to the world's maritime heritage.
