The Thalassa was built in 1980 in Harlingen, the Netherlands, but was completely rebuilt after sinking in 1985 by Arnold Hilkema and Jacob Dan. She was refloated in 1995.
The Thalassa took part in the Tall Ships Race for the first time in 2004.
