The Gulden Leeuw is a large, robust sailing ship reminiscent of the ships of the 1930s, with the deck layout of a classic yacht.

The vessel was built in 1937 for the Danish Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. During her service to the Danish government, she was often used for marine biology research, not only in Danish waters but also in international waters. The ship has a rich history, having sailed as a research vessel, supplier and even as a training ship for a Danish nautical college.

Over the past two years, the ship has been converted into a three-masted schooner. This highly versatile rig combines the advantages of a square-rigged vessel with those of a fore-and-aft rigged vessel.
