Williwaw is owned by the Sail Training Association of Belgium (S.T.A.B.), which was entrusted to it by the city of Antwerp in 1998. S.T.A.B. has completed a full restoration of Williwaw using volunteers and the help of the National Maritime Museum.
Aboard the globe-trotting Williwaw, Willy de Roos first circumnavigated the American continent from east to west, sailing via the Northwest Passage to Greenland and the Bering Strait, reaching the west coast of North America before sailing to Antarctica in 1979.
Williwaw is used for sail training for young people and is a floating ambassador for the National Maritime Museum in Antwerp. In winter she is moored at the museum quay and in summer she sails with young people on board.
