The Kapitan Głowacki was built around 1942 in Germany as a semi-military ship. She was abandoned after the war and found by Poles lying in the sand in the north-west corner of Poland. She was soon refitted as a sailing ship and used as a training vessel undertaking various exercises for maritime schools in Poland in the 1950s, 1960s and part of the 1970s.

In the 1980s, she was rebuilt again, this time as a square rig and leased out as a training ship for the Polish Sailing Association. Kapitan Glowacki is now operated by 3Oceans Ltd.

It regularly takes part in the Tall Ships Races.
